Initiatives

Our Initiatives have been designed to help companies educate and engage their employees in activities that will improve a specific social issue such as Education, the Environment, and Hunger. These Initiatives make it easy for companies to get involved by providing a variety of community engagement opportunities and as always, EF staff provides additional customized resources and support as needed. These Initiatives harness the power of our network of companies to generate resources needed to improve social issues in our community.

Entrepreneurs Foundation 2010 Education Initiative

Entrepreneurs Foundation (EF) announces our 2010 Education Initiative: an annual campaign to inspire academic success in our communities, for all income levels and neighborhoods. EF encourages companies to find ways to level the playing field in education and take action to improve access for all children.

Every company can take part in this initiative through the DO ONE THING opportunities highlighted below. Using the free and reduced lunch program as an indicator, there are over 239,000 children in the Bay Area who need community assistance to have the tools to succeed in school. The programs below clearly demonstrate the huge impact that a small contribution can have for a child.

Family Giving Tree - Back to School Drive provides backpacks to over 15,000 low-income children so they start the school year equipped to learn and succeed.

Resource Area For Teachers (R.A.F.T.) - Provides creative hands-on activities, educational resources, workshops and inexpensive materials to help teachers inspire their students to be creative learners and thinkers.

My New Red Shoes - Empowers homeless and very low-income youth to succeed in school by providing them with brand new clothing so that they may greet the school year with pride.

To learn more ways that employees and companies can help, refer to the Education Initiative RESOURCE GUIDE which includes community organizations that support academic success in unique ways. These organizations are great partners for any company looking to increase their investment, of time, money, or other resources, in education.

Connect with others on EF's Facebook Page to share your Education Initiative activities, ask for ideas from other community relations professionals, learn about events, related topics, and more.

Contact Dyanne Compton or Lindsay Norcott for ideas, assistance and advice for activities to promote your drive and increase community outcomes!
